Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Skidmore College women's soccer team tallied twice in the final 19 minutes en route to a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Oneonta St., Saturday afternoon at the Red Dragon Soccer Field.
'Taylor Messina gave the Red Dragons (1-4) a 1-0 lead 31:39 into the contest, converting on a penalty kick. After 30 scoreless minutes Skidmore pressed late in the second half and nearly found the equalizer, but
Christina Sanzari's shot rang off the post.
The Thoroughbreds continued to push and were rewarded in the 71st minute, as
Emily Saliterman collected a loose ball and buried a strike inside the far post.
Wray Gabel netted her second career goal just over 10 minutes later, taking a feed from
Arena Manning a lifting a strike under the crossbar to propel Skidmore to its first win of the season.
Madison Plummer and
Deirdre Walsh split time in goal for the Thoroughbreds, turning away three shots each. Rory Star made three saves in goal for the Red Dragons. The shots for the game were even at 9-9, while Oneonta owned a 7-1 advantage in corners.
Skidmore host Castleton St. at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16.
