GENEVA, NY – A late second-half comeback bid fell just short as the Skidmore College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 road loss at William Smith on Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (4-4-2, 1-3-1 Liberty League) faced a two-goal deficit after the Herons (9-3, 5-0 Liberty League) scored in quick succession in the 33rd and 35th minutes. Skidmore eventually pulled within one in the 77th minute when junior
Olivia Chandler connected with senior
Abby Lewis, but could not find an equalizer in the closing minutes.
With the goal, Lewis became the 12th player in program history to reach 20 career goals.

- The Herons doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Grace Sudbay scored off assists from Kristin Middaugh and Lea Bryant.
- Skidmore pulled within one in the 77th minute when Chandler beat her defender and crossed into the box, where an unmarked Lewis tapped in the ball.
- William Smith controlled possession down the stretch, preventing Skidmore from generating another shot attempt.
