Thoroughbreds give #3 Plattsburgh a scare, 4-3

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—Aaron Beck had two goals and Jack McDonald had 48 saves in a 4-3 non-conference loss to #3 Plattsburgh State, Friday night at Stafford Arena.
 
The loss snaps a three-game win streak for the 6-5-4 Thoroughbreds. The Cardinals bounced back after their lone loss of the season to improve to 11-1-2.
 
After allowing a goal :48 into the game, Skidmore settled down with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. Marc Cibelli scored his third of the season at 12:12, the Aaron Beck scored his 12th of the season from Ondrej Krajnak at 16:16. The Cardinals tied it at the 19:00 mark to even it 2-2 at the end of the first.
 
The Cardinals took a 3-2 lead at 5:01 of the second. Beck tied it 3-3 from Dave Dupuis at 9:09.  A Plattsburgh power-play goal at 17:34 proved to be the eventual game winner.
 
Neither team scored in the third, with McDonald making 19 of his 48 saves, including five during a 5:00 Cardinal power play.
 
Plattsburgh outshot Skidmore 52-22.
 
The Thoroughbreds continue their North Country trip with a 7 p.m. game Saturday at Potsdam.
