Maccabiah Games Hockey Schedule
UPDATE: The United States took the silver after beating the Ukraine 6-0 in the semifinals and losing to Canada in the gold medal game.
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Skidmore College senior defenseman Dalton Weinstein is a member of the United States Open Ice Hockey team competing in the 19th Maccabiah Games, July 18-26 in Israel.
The Maccabiah Games are the third-largest international sporting event in the world and will bring together approximately 9,000 Jewish athletes from 76 countries. The games are held every four years.
The event's four-team hockey tournament features squads from Canada, Israel, Ukraine and the United States. The Maccabiah Games are sponsoring hockey for the first time since it competed as an exhibition sport in 1997.
Weinstein saw action in 17 games for Skidmore last season, the Summerville, S.C. native is a two-time Eastern College Athletic Conference East All-Academic selection.

Players from all three NCAA Divisions are represented on the roster. The team is coached by NHL Network analyst Billy Jaffe, who competed in the 1997 Maccabiah Games. Nashville Predators forward Eric Nystrom is the team's assistant coach.
The bronze-medal and gold-medal games will be held July 25-26 with all games to be played at Metuylla's Canada Center, the country's lone hockey rink.
