Skidmore skates to 3-3 tie at St. Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H.--The Skidmore College hockey team battled St. Anselm College to a 3-3 ECAC East road tie, Saturday evening.

The Thoroughbreds are 2-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the East, while the Hawks are 0-3-1 overall and in league play.

With the goalie out for an extra attacker, Anthony Bird scored at 19:34 of the third from Vlad Gavrik and Tony Giacin to tie the game 3-3.

The team's traded first period goals. Dalton Weinstein and Phil Buonocore each scored for the Thoroughbreds for a 2-2 tie at the end of one.

After a scoreless second period, St. Anslem went in front 3-2 at 7:13, setting up Bird's heroics.

Skidmore outshot the Hawks 43-24. Jack McDonald had 21 saves, including one in overtime.

The Thoroughbreds return home Friday night at 7 p.m. to take on Babson.
