Skidmore rallies past Clarkson, 65-58

Box Score Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Connor Merrill, Aldin Medunjanin, and Sakhile Sithole combined for 34 of Skidmore's 37 second-half points in the team's 65-58 Liberty League win over Clarkson University, Tuesday at the Williamson Sports Center.
 
The Thoroughbreds have won five straight for a 6-2 Liberty League and 12-5 overall record. The Golden Knights are 4-4 and 12-5.
 
Merrill scored 13 of his team-high 19 points in the second half. Medunjanin scored 12 of his 14 in the second, while Sithole hit for nine of his 14 points.  Merrill hit six of seven field goal attempts in the second, finishing 9-12 (75%).   
 
John Coleman had a game-high 24 points for Clarkson, while Marques Charlton added 15 and Jerry Coleman 13.
 
Skidmore led by as many as 11 points early before the Golden Knights cut the margin to two at the half, 28-26.  
 
In the second half, John Coleman gave Clarkson its biggest lead of the game, 41-35, with his basket at 13:27.  Skidmore went back in front, 44-43 on a Merrill three-pointer with 10:18 left. The Golden Knights kept it close the rest of the way, but never regained the lead.
 
 
As a team Skidmore was 25-46 (54.3%) from the floor. The Thoroughbred bench outscored Clarkson 19-2.
 
Skidmore is home Friday at 8 p.m. against Rensselaer.
