Babson Park, Mass.-- The Skidmore College hockey team picked up two key ECAC East points with a 4-2 road win over Babson College, Friday night.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 3-2 overall and in ECAC East play, while the Beavers drop to 0-2-1 and 0-2-2 overall.
Vlad Gavrik led Skidmore with two goals and had an assist, while freshman goalie
Ben Freiberg had 29 saves to earn his second career win.
Julian Malakorn opened the scoring for the Thoroughbreds with a goal from
Thomas Park and
Chris Powers at 7:05 of the first. The Beavers tied it at 12:54 to leave it 1-1 after the first.
Tony Giacin put the Thoroughbreds back in front, 2-1, with a power-play goal at 16:05 of the second from Gavrik.
Babson tied it early in the third, but Gavrik answered with the eventual game-winner from
Erik Nilsson at 6:50. Gavrik added the empty netter at 19:01.
Skidmore will close out the road trip Saturday at UMASS Boston at 3 p.m.
