Skidmore goes OT in 71-63 loss to Delaware Valley

Box Score Chester, Pa.-- Delaware Valley outscored Skidmore 12-4 in overtime for a 71-63 win in the first round of the Widener University Men's Basketball Invitational, Friday night.
 
It was the season opener for both teams. The Thoroughbreds will face the host school in the Saturday's consolation game at 3 p.m.
 
Skidmore forward Connor Merrill sent the game into overtime when he hit a three-pointer with 12 seconds to play in regulation, 59-59.   Tanner Brooks gave the Thoroughbreds a quick 61-59 lead in the extra session when he converted a steal.   Delaware Valley regained the lead, 62-61 on a traditional three-point play by Zach Sly.  Brooks put Skidmore back in front 63-62 with 4:04 to play in OT, but those would be the last points for the Thoroughbreds. 
 
Merrill finished 18 points and eight rebounds.  Aldin Medunianin scored 13 points and off the bench, while Brooks finished with 11 points, four assists, and three steals.
