Box Score 2 Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College volleyball team finished 3-1 at the Skidmore Volleyball Invitational after defeating Baruch and falling to New Paltz on the final day.
The Thoroughbreds are now 25-6 overall and will host the Liberty League Tournament this Friday and Saturday at the Williamson Sports Center.
New Paltz finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record to win this year's invitational, while Baruch, Southern Vermont and Union all finished 1-3.
Corinne Palmer and
Mallory Mendelsohn of Skidmore were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Marissa King of New Paltz was named Tournament MVP, joining teammate Dana Vosilla, Rebecca Peralta of Baruch, Danielle Healis of Southern Vermont and Marissa Vollmer of Union and the All-Tournament squad.

Skidmore def. Union 3-1 (26-28, 25-7, 25-23, 25-20)
After dropping the first set, Skidmore won three straight to defeat Union 3-1.
Sam Friedman recorded 28 digs as she became the third player in program history with 2,000 career digs.
Corinne Palmer was dominant as she tallied 30 kills at a .674 hitting percentage to go along with four blocks.
Mallory Mendelsohn added 56 assists while
Carolyn Bottelier filled up the stat sheet with 11 kills, 11 digs, five blocks and three service aces. For the Dutchwomen, Kim Armstrong tallied a double-double with 24 assists and 12 digs, while Marissa Vollmer had a team-high 18 digs and Rachel Wyman chipped in with 13 kills. Skidmore improves to 23-5, while Union falls to 16-16.
New Paltz def. Southern Vermont 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16)
New Paltz improved to 28-7 with a three-set win over Southern Vermont. Michelle Jacobson had a double-double with 12 digs and 11 kills, while Dana Vosilla added seven kills and two blocks and Marissa King finished with 25 assists. Jess Alvarez had seven kills and 10 digs for the Mountaineers who fall to 20-4.
Baruch def. Union 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-9)
Baruch rattled off wins in three straight sets for a 3-1 win over the Dutchwomen, improving to 22-7. Union, who falls to 16-17, was led by Rachel Wyman with 10 kills, Mackenzie Westfall with 31 assists and Marissa Vollmer with 15 digs.
Skidmore def Southern Vermont 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-14)
The Thoroughbreds improved to 24-5 with a 3-0 win over Southern Vermont.
Carolyn Bottelier posted a double-double with 13 digs and 11 kills at a .625 hitting percentage to go along with four blocks.
Corinne Palmer added 16 kills at a .500 hitting percentage and five blocks, while
Mallory Mendelsohn chipped in with 37 assists and seven digs. The Mountaineers fall to 20-5 and were lead by 13 digs from Vivan Delgado, 14 assists from Carrie Baltazar and 11 assists from Sheilani Kaleopa. Danielle Healis added eight kills.
New Paltz def. Baruch 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-14)
The Hawks improved to 2-0 on the day and 24-7 overall with a three-set victory over Baruch. Michelle Jacobson posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs for New Paltz. Dana Vosilla chipped in with 11 kills and two blocks and Marissa King added 42 assists.

Skidmore def. Baruch 3-1 (25-14, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19)
The Thoroughbreds improved to 3-0 on the weekend with a 3-1 win over Baruch. Four players for Skidmore finished with double-digit kills led by 14 from
Corinne Palmer, while four different players had double-digit digs with
Mallory Mendelsohn's 14 leading the way. Mendelsohn also added 47 assists and Palmer had five blocks. For Baruch, Rebecca Peralta (13 kills, 13 digs), Melinda Santiago (46 assists, 10 digs) and Michelle Stommes (13 kills, 11 digs) all finished with double-doubles.
Southern Vermont def. Baruch 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-17)
The Mountaineers picked up their first win of the weekend while Baruch closed out its weekend with a 1-3 mark. For Southern Vermont, Danielle Healis finished with 13 kills and two blocks, while Jessica Alvarez added 13 kills, nine digs and four aces and Vivan Delgado chipped in with 19 digs. For the Bearcats Melinda Santiago had 18 assists to go along with 12 kills and five digs from Lauren Hayden and 12 digs and eight kills from Jessica Wu.
New Paltz def. Union 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 30-28)
The Hawks posted a 3-0 win over Union behind 18 Kills and 15 digs from Michelle Jacobson. Marissa King added 42 assists, 18 digs and four kills for New Paltz.

After taking a 2-0 lead, Union held on for a 3-2 victory in the final match of the 2012 Skidmore Invitational. For the Mountaineers, Danielle Healis had 12 kills and four blocks to go along with 15 kills, two blocks and two aces from Ashley Veliz. Carrie Baltazar added 50 assists, 11 digs and five kills for Southern Vermont.
