Volleyball breezes to Liberty League title

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Potsdam, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team won the Liberty League regular season championship with a 3-0 wins over RIT (25-20, 25-20, 25-9) and Clarkson (25-21, 25-21, 25-23), Saturday at Clarkson.

The Thoroughbreds finish league play with a perfect 12-0 mark and are 22-5 overall. The team will close out the regular season next weekend  with the Skidmore Invitational before hosting the Liberty League championship tournament Nov.  2-3.

In the RIT win, Natalie Nagle had eight kills, and four blocks for the Thoroughbreds. Elise Finnerty was also tough at the net with six blocks (one solo), while Sam Friedman added 12 digs, four assists, and three aces.

Skidmore's win over Clarkson (22-5, 10-2 Liberty) clinched the league title. Corrine Palmer had 16 kills and a .536 hitting percentage to go along with four blocks.  Carolyn Bottelier had 18 digs, two aces and three blocks. Mallory Mendelsohn contributed 29 assists and 11 digs, while Finnerty had five blocks and seven kills.  Friedman finished with 13 digs.

The tournament field is set with Skidmore playing #4 RIT in one semifinal and #2 Clarkson and #3 Vassar in the other semifinal. Times will be announced later.
