Tim Sullivan tallied a hat trick to lead the Skidmore College men's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Cobleskill Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 9-4-1, while the Fighting Tigers fall to 3-11-1.
Skidmore came out firing but were unable to convert early until
Brock Bakewell took a lead pass from
Alex Amini and found the back of the net in the 26
th minute. The Thoroughbreds made it 2-0 in the 39
th minute when
Robby Smukler corralled a rebound off the post and fed Sullivan in front of the goal for his first of the game. Sullivan added another before the half when he scored on a sharp angle from the right wing to make it 3-0.
Bakewell tallied his second of the day and sixth of the season just 2:17 into the second half when he took a feed from Andrew Pertsov to make it 4-0. Sullivan pushed the lead to 5-0 in the 61
st minute when he put home a rebound off a hard shot by Bakewell to complete the hat trick.
Todd Jensen capped the scoring in the 84
th minute as he took a pass from
Ike Okpoebo and snuck one inside the far post for his first collegiate goal.
Eli Kisselbach got the win in goal for Skidmore, playing the whole first half, while
Danny Ebenstein and
Lucas Zornoza split time in the second half for the combined shutout.
For Cobleskill, senior Mack Curran played well in goal, finishing with 17 saves on 23 shots.
The Thoroughbreds outshot the Fighting Tigers 44-6 and held a 7-1 advantage in corners.
Skidmore travels to Liberty League rival RPI this Wednesday, while Cobleskill hosts Lancaster Bible next Saturday.
