Box Score Williamstown, Mass.— The Skidmore College men's basketball team closed out its nonconference schedule with a 76-59 loss at #15 Williams College.
The Thoroughbreds are 10-4, while the Ephs move to 14-3.
Terron Victoria led Skidmore with 18 points, while
Gerard O'Shea added 13 points and three assists.
Skidmore struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 9 for 33 (27.3%), while Williams hit 7 of 14 threes. The Ephs also had a 41-29 advantage on the boards.
Down by 12, 39-27 with 16:55 to play, the Thoroughbreds used a 12-4 run to pull within four, 43-39 with 13:15 to play. The Ephs responded with a 16-0 run over the next 3:30 to stop the Skidmore rally.
"Credit Williams, they were the better team tonight," said Skidmore coach
Joe Burke. "To beat a team like that on the road you have to be firing on all cylinders. I was proud of the effort but we have to take the execution to a higher level.
"We have lost to three top-15 teams this year out of conference. I feel like we are close to winning those games, but we are not there yet. My hope is that these experiences drive us to a great finish in the Liberty League. "
The Thoroughbreds return to Liberty League play on Jan. 24 at home against St. Lawrence at 8 p.m.
