Skidmore finishes second in Red Dragon Classic

Cortland, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team went 3-1 to finish second in the 26th Cortland Red Dragon Classic this weekend.

The Thoroughbreds beat Rochester 3-2 (25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-11) it the semifinals of the 12-team event before losing 3-0 (24-26, 19-25, 9-25) to Cortland in the championship match.

Carolyn Bottelier earned all-tournanment honors for Skidmore. She had 15 kills, 15 digs, and three aces in the Rochester win.

Also against Rochcester, Kelley Vershbow had 12 kills and four aces, Sam Friedman had 13 digs, and Mallory Mendelsohm had 47 assists and nine digs.

In the Cortland match, Mendelsohn had 21 assists and Corinne Palmer had four blocks.

Skidmore is at the University of Rochester Invitational on Friday.
