ECAC honors Skidmore hockey players on playoff eve

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.—Skidmore College junior goalie Colin Bessey and junior defenseman Nick Dupuiswere selected to the ECAC East All-Conference First Team as the Thoroughbreds get ready to host an ECAC East Quarterfinal game Saturday against Babson College.

Saturday's game starts at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga Springs City Rink. There will be a limited number of tickets available at the gate, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students.

Skidmore finished fourth in the East with an 8-8-3 league and 9-13-3 overall record. Skidmore had four wins over nationally ranked teams. Babson comes into Saturday's game with a 9-13-3 overall mark, including a 3-1 win over the Thoroughbreds on Jan. 14. Babson knocked Skidmore out of the 2010 ECAC East tournament with a 3-0 semifinal win.

Bessey was clearly the league's top goalie with a 7-2-2 league mark that included a 2.24 GAA and .914 goals against average. Dupuis led the Thoroughbreds in scoring as a defenseman with nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points.

Saturday's winner will advance to the ECAC East Final Four on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
