Geneva, N.Y. - The Skidmore College men's basketball team returns to the Liberty League Tournament for the second consecutive year after posting a 16-9 overall and 10-4 league record.
The Thoroughbreds tied a program record for regular season wins and set a new program record for LIberty League wins.
Skidmore will face off against Rensselaer on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. This year's tournament will take placed at top seed Hobart, who will take on Hamilton in the other semifinal on Friday night at 8 p.m. The winners of each game will play on Saturday at 3 p.m. for the Liberty League Championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Thoroughbreds and Engineers were 1-1 against each other this season with each team winning on its home court.
First Team All-League selection
Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y.) is averaging a team-high 3.92 assists and 1.80 steals per game while boasting a league-best 1.96 assist to turnover ratio to go go along with 10.2 points per game. Second Team All-League selection
Jeff Altimar (Medfield, Mass.) leads Skidmore in scoring with 10.6 points per contest and
Melvis Langyintuo (Tamale, Ghana) leads the team with 6.0 rebounds a game in addition to averaging 10.2 points.
For RPI, Travis Jones leads the way with 12.5 points a night, Jeremy Moylan averages a team-high 4.9 rebounds and Matthew Pooley leads the team with 2.5 assists per game.
