Hockey falls to Babson, 3-1

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Babson in ECAC East action, Friday night at the Saratoga City Rink.
 
The Thoroughbreds fall to 2-4-2 in the league and 3-9-2 overall, while the Beavers improve to 5-3-0 in the league and 7-6-0 overall.
 
Babson got on the board first when P.T. Donato put home a rebound on the power play at the 17:23 mark of the first period. It was his 7th goal of the year, Jay Haseley and Ryan Heavey assisted on the goal.
 
After a scoreless second period, Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass./Springfield Falcons) tied it up 22 seconds into the third period for Skidmore, taking a pass from Alex Essaris (Dollard-Des-Ormaux, Quebec/Worcester Academy) for his 6th of the season. Just a few minutes later, the Beavers got their second power play goal of the game, this time from Jason Schneider with assists from Dan Ahern and Terry Woods to give Babson a 2-1 lead. The Thoroughbreds could not fight back from the deficit as Heavey added an empty net goal with three seconds left to give the Beavers a 3-1 victory.
 
Andrew Ross (McKinney, Texas/Boston Bulldogs) made 34 saves for Skidmore, while Zeke Testa finished with 29 stops for Babson.
 
The Beavers outshot Skidmore, 37-30 and finished 2-for-4 on the power play.
 
The Thoroughbreds host UMass Boston on Saturday at 4 p.m. in ECAC East action.
