Home ice this weekend for Thoroughbreds

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College hockey team returns home this weekend for ECAC East games against Babson and UMASS Boston.

The Thoroughbreds (2-3-2 East, 3-8-2 overall) are home for the first time since Dec. 7 on Friday night at 7 p.m. against Babson (4-3, 6-6). Skidmore closes out the weekend on Saturday at 4 p.m. against UMASS Boston (5-2, 9-3). There is no admission charge for games at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.

Junior defenseman Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass./Springfield Falcons) leads the Thoroughbreds in scoring with five goals and eight assists for 13 points. Senior forward Hunter Thayer (Shelburne, Vt./Green Mountain Glades) is next at 5-7--12, while junior forward Tyler Doremus (Aspen, Colo./New England Huskies) has 3-7-10.

Junior goalies Colin Bessey (Montclair, N.J./Trinity-Pawling) and Andrew Ross (McKinney, Texas/Boston Bulldogs) are splitting time in net. Bessey has a 3.53 goals against average and .884 save percentage, while Ross has a 3.52 GAA and .882 sv%.

Babson is coming off a 3-1 non-league win against Suffolk. P.T. Donato leads the Beavers in scoring (6-8--14). UMASS Boston is tied with Castleton State in second place in the East, going into Friday's contest with the Spartans. The Beacons have won five of their last six games. Travis Daniel (7-10--17) and Eric Tufman (5-12--17) are tied for the team scoring lead.

Skidmore is on the road next weekend against Amherst and Hamilton and returns home Jan. 28 against Connecticut College.
