Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— Plattsburgh State downed Skidmore College 4-1 in a non-league men's hockey match-up, Tuesday night at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.

The loss snaps a three-game unbeaten streak for the 3-4-1 Thoroughbreds. The 7-4 Cardinals have won five straight.

Plattsburgh scored the lone first period goal when Dan Sliasis scored off a rebound at 7:19 from Kyle Kudroch and Dylan Clarke.

Kudroch made 2-0 at 8:11 of the second on another second chance goal from Clarke. Skidmore cut the lead to 2-1 at 13:56 when Vlad Gavrik scored his fourth of the season from Nick Dupuis.

The Cardinals got an insurance goal at 11:20 of the third on Kyle Taylor's first goal of the season from Mike Grace and Ryan Farnan. Matty MacLeod scored an empty-net short-handed goal for the 4-1 final.

Skidmore goalie Colin Bessey had 33 saves, while Josh Leis improved to 6-1 with 11 saves for Plattsburgh.

The Thoroughbreds close out the semester with a league game Friday at Castleton State.
