Schenectady—The Skidmore College volleyball team went 4-0 to win the Interleague Volleyball Challenge played this weekend at Union College. The Thoroughbreds sailed through the tournament, beating Ithaca 3-1 (25-16, 27-25, 22-25, 25-21), Potsdam 3-0 (26-24, 28-26, 25-16), Lasell 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-17), and Oneonta 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-20).
Skidmore improves to 15-3 with the seep.
Meredith Palmer was Tournament MVP and
Carolyn Bottelier was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Thoroughbreds.
In the Ithaca win, Palmer had 19 kills, five blocks and a .417 hitting percentage.
Sam Friedman added 27 digs, while
Mallory Mendelsohn had 45 assists, nine digs, and two aces. Bottelier had a double/double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Against Potsdam, Palmer was tough again with 18 kills, two blocks, and a .531 hitting percentage. Friedman contributed 22 digs.
The Lasell win featured another big performance from Palmer who had 12 kills and six blocks.
Kelley Vershbow chipped in 13 kills, while Mdnedelsohn had 32 assists and eight kills.
Palmer was outstanding again in the Oneonta win with 9 kills, two blocks, and a .643 hitting percentage. Bottelier had 18 kills and 15 digs.
Skidmore will host Middlebury College on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
