Volleyball falls to Middlebury, 3-0

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team lost 3-0 to Middlebury, Tuesday night at The Williamson Sports Center.
 
Middlebury improves to 14-3, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 15-4.
 
The two teams battled back and forth in the first set before the Panthers won 28-26. In the second set, Middlebury won 25-21 and held off a Thoroughbred rally in the third set for a 25-17 win.
 
Senior Meredith Palmer (Montvale, N.J.) finished with 13 kills and two blocks for Skidmore, while Carolyn Bottelier (Washington, D.C.) added 11 kills and seven digs. Also for the Thoroughbreds, Samantha Friedman (Los Angeles, Calif.) had 24 digs and Mallory Mendelsohn (San Francisco, Calif.) had 38 assists and two service aces.
 
For the Panthers, Jane Handel had 11 digs, 10 kills, four blocks and two service aces, while Julia Gibbs had 13 digs and 11 kills and Lauren Barrett added 46 assists and 14 digs.
 
Skidmore returns to action on Oct. 16 at Sage.
