Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College men's basketball team closed out its season with a 72-59 Liberty League win over Hobart College, Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.

The Thoroughbreds finish 8-17 overall and 3-11 in the Liberty League. Hobart ends its year 8-17 and 5-9.

Skidmore never trailed, grabbing a 34-21 halftime lead and leading by as many as 20 in the second half.

Freshman guard Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) led three Thoroughbreds in double figures with 13 points, hitting three of five from three-point range. He also had five assists, six steals, and four rebounds.  Senior Jake Shechtman (Wynnewood, Pa./Shipley) closed out his collegiate career with 12 points and six rebounds.   Sophomore guard Jeff Altimar (Medfield, Mass.) added 12 points, including 8-9 from the free throw line.

Matt Pebole (Little Silver, N.J.) led the Statesmen with 15 points.  Rob Estep (York, Pa.) went 8-9 from the free throw line to finish with 10 points.

Skidmore outscored Hobart 33-9  from beyond the arc. The Statesmen struggled from long range, hitting just three of 25 three-point attempts.
