Thoroughbreds stay perfect with 110-58 win over Southern Vermont

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Senior forward Jon Douglas (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional) and sophomore guard Melvis Langyintuo (Tamale, Ghana/Lawrenceville) scored 18 points each to lead the Skidmore College men's basketball team to a 110-58 win over Southern Vermont College, Tuesday at the Sports and Recreation Center.

The Thoroughbreds remain unbeaten at 4-0, while The Mountaineers fall to 2-3.

Southern Vermont scored the game's first eight points led 18-7 with 13:40 to play in the first half, before the Thoroughbreds erupted for a 29-5 run to take a 36-23 lead with 7:12 to play and then a 22-6 run to close out the half with a 58-29 lead.

Langyintuo came off the bench to score 14 of his 18 points during the run. Douglas hit three threes for nine first-half points.

Everyone got into the game in the second half with Skidmore's bench outscoring Southern Vermont's bench, 62-6. The Thoroughbreds also scored 41 points off 31 Mountaineer turnovers.

Douglas finished 6-7 from three-point range, while Langyintuo was 8-10 from the floor. John Mantas (Niskayuna, N.Y./CBA) and Sakhile Sithole (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) scored 10 points each off the bench. Gerard O'Shea (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Averill Park) scored nine points and had six assists and three steals, while Terron Victoria (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) contributed eight points, three assists, and four steals.

Derrick Cenicola led Southern Vermont with 17 points.

The Thoroughbreds are at Hartwick on Dec. 1.
