Skidmore Classic Volleyball Tournament

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Skidmore College volleyball team finished 3-1 at the Skidmore Classic Tournament.

The Thoroughbreds defeated Hunter 3-0 and Colby Sawyer 3-2 on the first day.  Their only loss came 3-1 to Clarkson but they came back and defeated St. Michael's 3-1 in their final match of the tournament.

Skidmore improves to 20-7 and will host the Skidmore Invitational Friday October 30 and Saturday October 31.

Skidmore swept Hunter behind 15 kills and three blocks from junior Meredith Palmer and 23 assists and four service aces from Becca Ormsby.  Senior Lauren Dinsdale tallied a game-high 14 digs for the Thoroughbreds.

Katina Boutis recorded 21 assists and eight digs for the Hawks, while Karolina Koguc and Jenna Pape each had seven kills.

Jordan Remillard recorded 11 kills and two blocks while junior Erika VanValkenburg tallied 28 assists and senior Veronica Mynders had 16 digs for Union in the win.

Katie Walsh recorded 33 assists and nine digs while Tracy Peterka had 10 kills and 12 digs and Lilly Lowe picked up 15 digs and five kills for the Purple Knights.

Sophomore Sara Artus recorded 11 kills and three service aces while junior Amanda ranki tallied eight digs and four sevice aces in the win.  Jenna Stock recorded 33 assists and Alison Schroeder added 10 digs for the Golden Knights.

Michelle Doody led the way for the Chargers with 12 kills and 13 digs while Genny Moore recorded 24 assists and Mickey Lapan added 22 digs.

Skidmore came back from 2-1 to win a thrilling five-set match behind a strong performance from freshman Carolyn Bottelier who had 11 kills, 11 digs and four service aces.  Freshman Mallory Mendelsohm recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 15 digs while Meredith Palmer had 21 kills and Lauren Dinsdale tallied 33 digs.  Becca Ormsby added 29 assists and freshman Liz Balboni had four blocks for the Thoroughbreds.

Michelle Doody recorded 21 digs and 17 kills while Genny Moore had 38 assists and Mickey LaPan picked up 26 digs for the Chargers.

Katie Walsh had 25 assists and 18 digs while Lilly Lowe and Kelly Garthwait each tallied 16 digs for the Purple Knights.  Tracy Peterka added 10 digs and seven kills and Lindsey Frazier had 10 kills and two blocks for St. Michael's.

Sara Artus recorded 25 kills and 23 digs while Jenna Stock picked up 51 assists and 11 digs and both MacKenzie Cook and Rachel Simons had four blocks in the win for the Golden Knights.

Junior Meredith Palmer had 15 kills and four blocks while senior Lauren Dinsdale recorded 46 digs for Skidmore.  Kelley Vershbow had 16 kills and Becca Ormsby tallied 28 assists.
