Schenectady, N.Y.—Skidmore College All-American libero
Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, NJ) set the new team record for career digs during the Union College Interleague Challenge. The Thoroughbreds went 3-1 to finish second.
Dinsdale made the All-Tournament team after she surpassed Becky Herman's 3,266 digs during the team's 3-0 win over Potsdam. Dinsdale's current career dig total of 3,299 places her fourth all-time in NCAA Division III career digs.
Skidmore opened the tournament with a 3-1 (27-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-20) loss to Oneonta.
Meredith Palmer (Montvale, N.J.) had 20 kills, four blocks and a .341 hitting percentage. Dinsdale had 26 digs and three aces, while
Becca Ormsby (Charlton, N.Y.) contributed a double/double with 40 assists and 10 digs.
The Thoroughbreds came back to beat Lasell 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 27-25).
Carolyn Bottelier (Washington, D.C.) had a triple/double with 11 kills, 11 assists and 10 digs. Palmer had 14 kills and four blocks, while Ormsby had 32 assists.
Skidmore continued to roll with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) win over Potsdam. Palmer was on a roll again with 15 kills, two blocks and a .478 hitting percentage. Dinsdale had 20 digs and Ormsby had 32 assists and two aces. Bottelier had a double/double with 10 kills and 11 digs, while
Kelley Vershbow (Washington, D.C.) added 11 kills.
In the final match, Skidmore beat Ithaca 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 27-25). Bottelier had another double/double with 46 assists and 16 digs. Dinsdale had 26 digs and Palmer posted 12 kills and six blocks. Vershbow finished with 15 kills.
The Thoroughbreds are 16-5 and will compete in the Sage College Invitational on Oct. 17.
