Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-- Connecticut College shook off a slow start and came from behind for a 3-2 win over Skidmore College, Saturday at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.
The Thoroughbreds are 8-6 overall and 4-5 in ECAC East play. The Camels improve to 6-5-2 and 2-4-2 NESCAC.
Skidmore got on the board first with
Alex Mykolenko's (Kharkov, Ukraine/Northwood) power-play goal at 12:03 of the first from
Hunter Thayer (Shelburne, Vt./Green Mountain Glades) and
Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass./Springfield Falcons). The Thoroughbreds out shot Conn College 13-5 in the first.
The Camels came out strong in the second period, scoring two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Julien Boutet (Amos, Quebec) scored at :33 and then Trevor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn./Avon Old Farms) scored a power-play goal at 6:15.
Mike Gibbons (Braintree, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) tied it for Skidmore at 17:19 from
Sasha Thomas (Gatineau, Que./Winchendon School).
The teams traded chances in the third before Ryan Howarth (Grand Blanc, Mich./Syracuse Stars) got the game-winner at 7:13. Camel goalie Greg Parker (Trenton, Ont./Groton School) held the Thoroughbreds off in the final minutes for the win.
Parker finished with 29 saves, while Skidmore goalie
Colin Bessey had 23 saves.
The Thoroughbreds return to action Jan. 23 at Hamilton.
