Skidmore beats Sage to take third at Oneonta Volleyball Invitational

Oneonta, N.Y.--The Skidmore College volleyball team beat Sage College 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 27-25) for third place in the Oneonta Volleyball Invitational Sept. 26-27.  The Thoroughbreds went 3-1 in the tournament to improve to 12-4.

Skidmore opened with a 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19) win over City College of New York and then lost a tough 3-2 match to Oneonta (23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 29-27, 15-8).

The team came back the second day for a 3-0 (5-12, 25-11, 25-13) win over Kings College to set-up the third place match with Sage.

Senior outside hitter Erica Duncan (San Francisco, Calif.) and junior libero Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, N.J.) were selected to the all-tournament team.

In the CCNY match, Duncan had 23 kills and a .413 hitting percentage, while Dinsdale contributed 41 digs.  Senior Murray Koch (Palo Alto, Calif.) had a double/double with 11 kills and 12 digs, sophomore setter Becca Ormsby (Charlton, N.Y.) had 48 assists, and sophomore Meredith Palmer added 11 kills and three blocks.

Against Oneonta, Duncan (29 kills, 22 digs) and Koch (14 kills, 23 digs) each had double/doubles, while Dinsdale registered 42 digs.

In the quick win over King's College, Duncan had 11 kills, Dinsdale 24 digs, and Ormsby added 39 assists.

The win over Russell Sage featured another pair of double/doubles by Duncan (10 kills, 11 digs) and Koch (14 kills, 11 digs).  Dinsdale had 24 digs, while Ormsby added to her assist total with 35.  Palmer finished with 11 kills.

Skidmore will host Middlebury College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
