SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y, – Trinity College defenseman Chris Diozzi (Belmont, Mass.) broke a 1-1 tie with his sixth goal of the season with 40 seconds to play in a 2-1 ECAC East/NESCAC crossover win against Skidmore College, Friday at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.

    The loss drops Skidmore to 6-16-2 overall and 3-14-1 in the ECAC East, while Trinity improves to 12-9-2 and 8-8-2 in NESCAC.  

    The Bantams got on the board quick with Matthew Crum's (Clearwater, Fla.) power-play goal from Ryan Casper (Paxton, Mass.) and Regnars Alksnis (Talsi, Latvia) at 5:36 of the first.

    The lone goal held up until the 2:43 of the third when Tim Daley (Saratoga Spring, N.Y,) scored on a 4-on-4 form Tim Welsh (Manchester, Vt.) and Joe Melnyk (Rotterdam, N.Y.).

    It looked like the Thoroughbreds would be playing their six overtime game of the season as time ran down in the third, but a pair of quick passed by Crum and Naoto Hamashima (Tokyo, Japan) set Diozzi up for the game-winner.

    Skidmore goalie Ted Levine (New York, N.Y.) kept the Thoroughbreds in it with 32 saves, including 13 in the third period.  Wesley Vesprini (Lexington, Mass.) had 27 saves for Trinity.  

    Skidmore will close out the regular season at home Saturday at 4 p.m. against Wesleyan.  Trinity is at Castleton State.
