    Assistant Softball Coach
Celia Brown was hired as the Skidmore College assistant softball coach, beginning in December 2018. Brown will work with the Thoroughbred position players, including the infielders, as well as assist in Skidmore's recruiting efforts.

Brown comes to Skidmore after spending two seasons with Hunts Hurricanes of the Capital Region Women's Fastpitch Softball League as a player and assistant softball coach. She conducted lineups and helped with player development during that time. Brown had an accomplished collegiate softball career, starring at Mercyhurst North East of the NJCAA as a middle infielder from 2011-2013.  On the field, the Queensbury native hit .397 in her first year, driving in 29 runs to lead the Saints to a 37-11 record, finishing the season ranked 17th in the nation. In 2013, she hit .362, driving in 35 runs and scoring 49, leading her team to the NJCAA National Title round, as the Saints went 44-12. Brown is among the all-time leaders in runs scored (90), doubles (28), walks (35), and at-bats (301).
 
Brown also served in an assistant role during that time, helping to compile stats and working with the coach in recruiting efforts. She earned an associate's degree in Liberal Arts from Mercyhurst in 2013.

She will work closely with our infielders while helping to assist with our hitters. I am confident that she will help push our players in a positive direction while mentoring and supporting our young team."
