SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Skidmore College head rowing coach Manny Valentin is excited to announce the addition of Bernadette Winby to the coaching staff.
 
Winby, a 2019 graduate of Marist University, rowed for four years as an undergraduate and earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and a focus in human anatomy and physiology. During her collegiate career, she stroked Marist's first varsity eight, which competed at the 2019 NCAA Championships. She was also named to the All-MAAC First Team in 2019.
 
Winby continued her education by earning a Master of Sport Leadership from Northeastern University, as well as a Master of Science in Licensed Mental Health Counseling from Pace University.
 
Most recently, Winby coached at Arlington High School in LaGrangeville, New York, where she led the novice program.
 
"At the Division III level, you can never have enough 'teachers' in the program," Valentin said. "Bernadette has been a teacher at every professional stop in her career. Combined with her rowing background, she will be an excellent addition to the program, and we are excited to have her join us."
 
Skidmore Rowing hit the water Sept. 15, with its first competition scheduled for Oct. 18 at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts.
