Skidmore wins pair of Liberty League weekly awards; nine recognized on Honor Roll

TROY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's varsity eight was named the Liberty League Boat of the Week, and Ginevra Muratori was selected as the Liberty League Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 5.
 
Additionally, nine student-athletes earned mention on the Honor Roll.
 
Representing Skidmore was Quinn Hocom (baseball), Michael Aiello and Marty McFadden (men's lacrosse), Lily Hudner (women's lacrosse), Rachel Monser (softball), Yuval Goodman, Nika Mori, and Fletcher King (men's tennis), and Amelie Gonzalez (women's tennis).
 
Men's Varsity 8+ (Henry Shannon, Will Landro, Van de Venecia, Nestor Martinez, Kal Katz, Sam van Adrichem Boogaert, Charles Ertz, Hayden Harlow, Thomas du Four) – Liberty League Men's Rowing Boat of the Week
The Skidmore men's varsity 8+ came from behind to pass Franklin & Marshall and win the three-boat varsity eight race at Saturday's Skidmore Sprints on Fish Creek. The crew posted a winning time of 6:16.8 after drawing even with 500 meters to go and winning the final sprint.
 
Ginevra Muratori (Fr., Como, Italy) – Liberty League Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Muratori went 4-0 against her opponents from Bard and RPI at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Muratori, ranked 12th nationally, took down her opponent from Bard 6-0, 6-0. She then a comeback win over her opponent from RPI after dropping the first set, winning 5-7, 6-4, 13-11.  She also won at No. 1 doubles with Amelie Gonzalez 8-0 versus Bard and a hard fought 7-5 win over RPI.
 
Quinn Hocom (#31, Sr., P, Watsonville, California) – Liberty League Baseball Honor Roll
In his Saturday start against Westfield State, Hocom struck out eight Owl batters while allowing just one earned run over seven innings of work for his fourth victory of the year. He scattered seven hits, but walked only one as the Thoroughbreds went on to win 16-4 on the way to a doubleheader sweep.
 
Michael Aiello (#18, So., A, Rockville Centre, New York) – Liberty League Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll
Aiello had a game-high four goals and two assists for six points on Saturday on the road at Vassar as No. 17 Skidmore defeated the Brewers, 15-11. The sophomore also had a season high four ground balls and 10 shot attempts on the afternoon while being credited with the game-winning goal.
 
Marty McFadden (#42, Sr., D, Edmonton, Alberta) – Liberty League Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll
McFadden caused two turnovers and picked up six ground balls in No. 17 Skidmore's 15-11 win at Vassar on Saturday. He also scored his first goal of the year and sixth of his career as a long pole that gave the Thoroughbreds a 10-9 lead that they would not relinquish.
 
Lily Hudner (#8, Sr., M, Concord, Massachusetts) – Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll
Hudner scored six goals across a pair of games for the Thoroughbreds in a split against Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Friday, in Skidmore's 16-13 win over Clarkson, she matched a season high with four goals with a ground ball and a caused turnover. She then scored two more on Saturday with one ground ball in the overtime loss to St. Lawrence.
 
Rachel Monser (#17, Jr., OF/P, Virginia Beach, Virginia) – Liberty League Softball Honor Roll
Monser went 5-for-10 at the plate over four games last week for the Thoroughbred with four walks and a pair of hit-by-pitches for a whopping .688 on-base percentage. She went 2-for-2 in stolen-base attempts, drove in one, and scored four runs as Skidmore went 2-2 with wins over Oneonta and a pair of one-run losses against RPI.
 
Yuval Goodman (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) – Liberty League Men's Tennis Honor Roll
In first singles against Rensselaer's Tamsay Shah on Saturday evening, Goodman won a convincing straight-set decision (6-1, 6-3) which included a bounce back following an early second-set break against as the No. 26 Thoroughbreds beat the Engineers, 6-1.
 
Nika Mori/Fletcher King – Liberty League Men's Tennis Honor Roll
The pairing of Mori and King won their third straight doubles match on Saturday at RPI, 6-2, over Puyplat/Sen. It gave Skidmore its first of two doubles wins over the Engineers on the way to a 6-1 victory for the 26th-ranked Thoroughbreds.
 
Amelie Gonzalez (Fr., San Juan, Puerto Rico) – Liberty League Women's Tennis Honor Roll
Gonzalez went 4-0 against Bard and RPI on Saturday.  She won both of her matches at No. 2 singles, defeating Bard 6-0, 6-0 and a 6-1, 6-3 win over RPI. She also won over Bard 8-0 and RPI 7-5 at the No. 1 doubles spot with partner Ginevra Muratori.
