ITHACA, NY – Led by a young but talented cast, the fourth-seeded Skidmore College women's tennis team will look to make a strong push to reclaim the title at the 2026 Liberty League Tournament, hosted by Ithaca College from Friday through Sunday.
WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
Top-seeded Vassar will be seeking back-to-back championships after claiming last year's title. The Brewers, ranked 51st in the latest ITA Division III women's tennis rankings, finished unbeaten in Liberty League play at 8-0 (13-5 overall). Vassar's roster includes eight players back from last year's championship roster. Seniors Erin McCusker and Iris Li are the team's top two singles players and form the top doubles team for the Brewers.
RPI (7-1 Liberty League; 10-6 overall), finished the season with seven wins in the team's last eight matches, with the only loss coming against Vassar, 5-2. That match included a three-set singles match along with three other matches that had a tiebreaker set. Third-seeded St. Lawrence (6-2 Liberty League; 13-4 overall) fell to both Vassar and RPI in competitive matches.
For the Thoroughbreds (5-3 Liberty League, 5-13 overall), the first-year duo of
Ginevra Muratori and
Amelie Gonzalez will look to continue a superb debut season at first doubles and the top two singles spots, and potentially lead a young Skidmore squad that features four first-years into another deep postseason run.
