Skidmore in second after first round of Liberty League Championship

Jaden Cheng is tied for fourth.
VERONA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College golf team is in second place after one round of the Liberty League Championship Friday at Turning Stone's Shenandoah Course. The Thoroughbreds shot a team score of 291.
  • Skidmore leads the pack of four that are all trailing NYU. The Violets are 11 clear after a 280 as all four of their scoring players shot even-par or better.
  • For Skidmore, Johnny Hwang shot a 3-under 69 with only one bogey and four pars. He's tied for second.
  • Jaden Cheng went 35-36 for a 1-under 71 also with four birdies on his card. He's in a three-way tie for fourth.
  • Rudraksha Banerjee bogeyed 3-of-4 around the run, but played the rest at 1-under to finish with a 74 and tie for 14th.
  • Tate Esler shot a 77, and Patrick McLaughlin a 79.
  • On the player leaderboard, Hwang trails Oscar Uribe by two. Cheng and Hwang are two of seven players in the field to shoot under par.

The middle round will be played on Saturday with tee times beginning at noon.
