Skidmore finishes fourth in single-round tournament at Bethpage Black

Johnny Hwang tied for fifth.
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Skidmore College golf team finished seventh on Thursday at the world-famous Bethpage Black Course for the single-round FSC Bethpage Black Invitational. The Thoroughbreds shot a team score of 314.
  • Johnny Hwang led Skidmore with a 5-over 76. Making the difficult course look easy to start, Hwang shot an opening-9 34 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 7. He tied for fifth.
  • Patrick McLaughlin and Jaden Cheng both shot 79 to tie for 18th. McLaughlin birdied No. 10 – a long par-4, and Cheng birdied the opening dogleg right first.
  • Tate Esler finished with an 80. He also birdied the first hole.
  • Rudraksha Banerjee shot an 84.
  • Adelphi won the event by three shots over host Farmingdale State with a 304.
  • Babson's Shane Quinn shot an even-par 71 to win individually.

Skidmore stays on Long Island and will return to Bethpage State Park for the full FSC Spring Invitational on the Red Course Saturday-Sunday.
