BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College golf team is in fourth place out of 17 teams following the first of two rounds at the Skidmore-hosted Tim Brown Invitational at the Ballston Spa Country Club.
- The Thoroughbreds opened with a 297 team score, three back of Amherst. NYU (295) and Trinity (296) are in between.
- Rudraksha Banerjee was one of three players to break par in the opening round. He shot an even-par 71 and is tied for second. Banerjee made a putt from the fringe on No. 8 for an eagle-3 – one of three eagles on the property for the opening round.
- Johnny Hwang is in a five-way tie for seventh after his 73, with birdies on the par-5 eighth and 13th.
- Tate Esler recovered from a rocky start to play his final 16 holes at 2-over aided by a birdie-2 on the second (his final hole of the day) to shoot a 76 and sit in a tie for 26th.
- Patrick McLaughlin is one behing after his opening-round 77.
- Jaden Cheng led four Skidmore individual players with a 4-over 75 featuring back-to-back birdies on No. 2 and No. 3. He's in 17th place.
- Hamilton's Jake Hendelman is the only player to go under par. He had 35s on both sides to finish with a 70, and lead Banerjee and Amherst's Andre Zhang by one.
