PREVIEW: Skidmore Softball

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College softball team will begin its 2026 season on Sunday, March 8, as it takes on Haverford and North Central at THE Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
 
The Thoroughbreds finished 2025 with a 13-23 record, but finished with five wins in their last eight games. The Thoroughbreds had run-rule Liberty League wins over Union and RIT, and a tight victory over St. Lawrence.
 
Skidmore finished the year third in hitting in the league with a .313 team average, and led in triples (16) and stolen-base percentage (.912).
 
THE SCHEDULE AHEAD
Skidmore's eight-game Florida slate features opponents from the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. Upon their return, the thoroughbreds have home non-league doubleheaders against Westfield State (March 25), Potsdam (March 27), Plattsburgh (March 28), and Oneonta (March 30).
 
Liberty League play begins Saturday, April 4, at Rensselaer. Skidmore hosts league foes Rochester (April 17), RIT (April 18), and Clarkson (April 25). Stay tuned to SkidmoreAthletics.com for schedule updates.  
 
The Liberty League Tournament is scheduled for May 7-9 at the league's top overall seed from the regular season.
 
RETURNING
The Thoroughbreds welcome back 14 players to the roster from last year's squad. Of them, three earned All-Liberty League accolades a year ago. Sam Waters was voted to the All-Liberty League First Team, while Elle Harrison and Rachel Monswer both earned second-team spots. 

Watters batted .377 with seven triples, a homer, and 23 stolen bases as a first-year and led the league in triples and stolen bases. Harrison hit .402 as a junior with 21 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. She was fifth in the league with an on-base percentage at .468. Monser hit .338 with five doubles and a homer last year while also appearing in seven games in the circle with a 1-0 record.
 
INCOMING
Skidmore welcomes four new student-athletes, all first-years, to the 2026 roster.
 
PROGRAM HISTORY
Skidmore softball has a tradition of competing at a high level in the Liberty League, with multiple postseason appearances and standout individual performances over the years. Skidmore has had one Player of the Year (Megan White-2022), one Pitcher of the Year (Sam Crose-2010), two Rookies of the Year (Dani DeGregory-2015, Sam Crose-2009), and one Coaching Staff of the Year (2014).
 
The Thoroughbreds are aiming to return to the conference tournament for the first time since 2022.
