Skidmore battles through first round at Swarthmore Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. – The Skidmore College men's golf team is in eighth place following a challenging round at the White Manor Country Club for the Swarthmore Invitational. Skidmore is in a group of five teams separated by just seven strokes.
  • Tate Esler shot a 75 to lead the Thoroughbreds with a team-high 12 pars.
  • Rudraksha Banerjee used an eagle-3 on the 11th for a 78 and tie for 34th with Patrick McLaughlin, who had a team-high two birdies (No. 11, No. 17).
  • Johnny Hwang finished with an 80 and also had 12 pars on his card. He's in 51st.
  • Jaden Cheng, playing as an individual, is in 56th after his 81.

"We really struggled in the very windy conditions today, and got especially hurt by the eighth hole where we collectively hit six balls in the water. Fortunately, we have 36 holes remaining tomorrow to move up the leaderboard."
