GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – The Skidmore riding team started its spring semester with a win at Siena University/Dutch Manor Stable, scoring 47 points over Reserve Champion Team Colgate University (40 points). Six thoroughbred riders qualified for Regional Finals, and the team added 13 blues to their Blue Ribbon Challenge. Four Skidmore horses, Mo, Milan, Stella and Owen, also competed.
The Open Riders led the way with
Isa Jensen '27 and
Avery Johnson '28 winning their sections, and
Lillard Preschlack '26 finishing third. Ian Guadio '28 added another win in the Intermediate Fences, and
Ellie Hoyt '26 won her Limit Fences.
Jensen also won her Open Flat, and Preschlack won her Intermediate Flat. Guadio,
Carolyn Albright '27 and
Ani McIntyre '27 all won their Limit Flats. Winning both their classes, Gaudio and Jensen joined a group qualified for the High Point Rider Award. Jensen answered the tie-breaker question correctly and added High Point Rider to her results for the day.
The competition finished with
Franny Gallagher '26 and
Isa Washburne '28 winning their Novice Equitation classes, and
Catherine Epstein '26 and
Nila Rothman '27 winning their Introductory Equitation classes. Skidmore's Mo was also awarded the Horse of the Show prize.
The team finishes its regular season on February 28 with a double header at home.
