Thoroughbreds take on top-ranked NYU on the road

NEW YORK – The Skidmore College women's basketball team dropped a 118-52 decision to nationally first-ranked and two-time defending national champion NYU on Monday afternoon.
  • Madison Meyer led Skidmore (2-7) with 13 points in the second-most points unbeaten NYU (11-0) has allowed all year. Meyer added a team high three steals.
  • Claudia Schneider scored 10 with four rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
  • Stella Criniti, Ruby Krop, and Sophia Martinez pulled in five rebounds each. Criniti had six points including Skidmore's only 3-pointer (1-of-8) of the afternoon.
  • NYU had six players in double figures and two more with nine. Caroline Peper and Zahra Alexander led with 16 apiece. Peper had seven assists, while Alexander finished 6-of-7 from the field.
  • Yasmene Clark finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for the Violets.
  • The hosts went 17-of-43 (39.5 percent) from 3-point range as a team and 44-of-90 (48.9 percent) overall, while Skidmore shot 12-of-56 (41.1 percent) overall.
  • NYU edged Skidmore, 54-40, in the paint with a 58-22 margin in bench points.
