Aitken, Gooden earn conference awards; two on Honor Roll

TROY, N.Y./SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Tommy Aitken from the Skidmore College men's hockey team was named the State University of New York (SUNYAC) Goaltender of the Week, while men's basketball's Jacobi Gooden was selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the third time. Additionally, Aidan Roy (men's basketball) and Sara Hastie (women's basketball) were both recognized on the Honor Roll for the period ending Jan. 4.
 
Tommy Aitken (#29, Jr., G, Winchester, Massachusetts) – SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week
Aitken stopped 31-of-33 shots (.939) on Friday night to lead Skidmore to a 3-2 overtime victory over nationally eighth-ranked Curry on the road. He kept the Thoroughbreds in it with 11 saves in the first period and 10 in the second while shutting out the Colonels over the final 39 minutes of the contest allowing for the come-from-behind win.
 
Jacob Gooden (#15, Fy., G, Edmond, Oklahoma) – Liberty League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Gooden scored 15 points in both games for Skidmore at the Springhill Suites Guilford Holiday Classic. He also chipped in with 1.5 steals and 1.5 assists in the weekend split while shooting 11-for-25 (.440) from the field.
 
Aidan Roy (#2, Jr., G, Mamaroneck, New York) – Liberty League Men's Basketball Honor Roll
Skidmore's All-Tournament Team selection from the Springhill Suites Guilford Holiday Classic averaged 14.5 points highlighted by a 22-point performance against Coast Guard in a Thoroughbred win. Across the tournament, the junior averaged 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 10-of-19 (.526) from the field and 5-of-10 from 3-point range.
 
Sara Hastie (#25, Jr., G, Amherst, Massachusetts) – Liberty League Women's Basketball Honor Roll
Hastie led Skidmore with 16 points off the bench on Saturday as the Thoroughbreds went on the road and returned to action with a 67-63 come-from-behind victory over Tufts. Hastie went 3-for-4 from 3-point range and connected for a clutch triple with just over a minute left that proved to be the decisive blow in the win over the Jumbos.
