Skidmore posts strong final round at Williams to finish 11th

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Skidmore College golf team shot a team score of 305 on Sunday morning in the last of three rounds at the Williams Fall Invitational to finish 11th with an aggregate score of 919.
  • Skidmore placed ahead of Liberty League foe St. Lawrence and just two shots behind Rensselaer.
  • Babson held onto the team lead and bead host Williams by 11.
  • Williams' Nick Smith won medalist honors by one stroke over Amherst's Thomas Zhang.
  • Rudraksha Banerjee shot the team's low round of the day of 74 with two out of the team's six birdies on the day. He finished tied for 21st.
  • Patrick McLaughlin finished in a tie for 24th. On Sunday, the sophomore fired a 77.
  • Classmate Johnny Hwang was one better in round three. His 76 brought him up to a t-62 finish.
  • Derek Thomas finished tied for 45th after his Sunday 78. The first-year birdied holes four and 13.
  • Jaden Cheng tied for 57th (77-79-81—237).

"Our inexperience is showing a bit as we are struggling to get off to good starts, but this group is growing and learning fast. We have an off week next weekend that allows us to work on some things and get ready for the second half of the fall season ending with our 54-hole home event at the State Park."
