Thoroughbreds excel in second round at Camp Lejeune

Johnny Hwang is tied for 43rd.
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The Skidmore College golf team had the fourth-best second round score of 294 sliding up six spots to a tie for 15th at the end of two days at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.
  • The Thoroughbreds improved 12 strokes from Friday and are currently tied with Randolph-Macon.
  • First-years Johnny Hwang and Rudraksha Banerjee are both tied for 43rd following day two. Hwang shot an even-par 72 while Banerjee finished with a 76. Both players had three birdies.
  • Tate Esler played the back nine at 2-under and finished with a 1-under 71. He is tied for 51st.
  • Another first-year, Partick McLaughlin, is also tied for 51st. McLaughlin birdied 3-of-4 holes on the back nine and bounced back from a tough start and played his last 16 holes at 1-under.
  • As a team, Skidmore is second in par-3 scoring and tied for third with 106 pars.
  • Sandhills holds a five-shot lead over second-place Oglethorpe.
