Skidmore in 10th halfway through FCS Spring Invitational

Evan Forrest is tied for 14th.
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Skidmore College golf team is in 10th after the first of two rounds at the FCS Spring Invitational. Playing the Bethpage State Park Red Course, the Thoroughbreds shot a first-round 293.
  • Senior Evan Forrest birdied No. 11 and recorded pars on his final seven holes to shoot a 2-over 72 and tie for 14th.
  • Rudraksha Banerjee is one shot back of Forrest. He had birdie-3s on No. 8 and No. 13 on the way to a 73. He's tied for 28th.
  • Fellow first-years Johnny Hwang and Patrick McLaughlin had matching 74s and are tied for 35th. Hwang's round featured back-to-back birdies on No. 10 and 11 after making the turn, while McLaughlin had an eagle-3 on the par-5 16th.
  • Tate Esler is in a tie for 44th after an opening-round 75.
  • Rochester holds a five-shot overnight lead over Huntingdon and host Farmingdale State as well as Rensselaer.
  • The leader, Luke Evans of Rochester, shot a 3-under 67 and is ahead by one shot.

  • Skidmore will finish at Bethpage on Sunday in the team's final tune-up before next weekend's Liberty League Championship.
