No. 40 Thoroughbreds fall on road to No. 20 Williams

Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The No. 40 Skidmore College women's tennis team fell short on the road after falling 5-2 against No. 20 Williams on Sunday afternoon.

DOUBLES MATCHES
  • The Skidmore third doubles duo of junior Beilynn Geiss and sophomore Coco Prokop hung tough against Williams' Lin and Thomann after pulling within one game in the match, 3-4, before the home team closed out the match with a 6-3 victory.
  • In first and second doubles, the Thoroughbreds took a game each before ultimately 6-1 in both matches.
SINGLES MATCHES
  • In first singles, senior Konika Dhull clutched out a competitive straight sets victory against the Ephs' Ishikawa after narrowly winning set one, 7-5, before following up with a 6-2 second set win.
  • In second singles, senior Grace Truong fought to a comeback three-set victory against Williams' Molyneux after initially losing set one, 2-6, before winning the latter two sets 6-3, 6-2.
  • In third singles, senior Ella Provost lost a nail-biter three-set match that saw both of the first two sets require tiebreakers leading up to a third set tiebreaker. In set one, Williams' Roets came out on top 7-6 after winning tiebreaks 7-3. Provost responded with a set two win in the exact same fashion after winning 7-6 (7-3) to force a third set tiebreak. In the third set, Roets came out on top 10-7.
  • In fourth singles, Geiss fell in straight sets to Ephs' Lin after losing a competitive first set 7-5, below falling 6-2 in the second set.
  • In fifth singles, freshman Mia Sarzynska lost a hard-fought three-set battle against Williams' Ladaga that saw the freshman fall 4-6 in set one, before winning 6-2 in the second set to force a third set, which swung the home team's way, 1-6.
  • In sixth singles, freshman Juliette Ceas won a pair of games before falling in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 to Williams' Stark.
UP NEXT
The Thoroughbreds will host Vassar on Wednesday in a stable game matchup. The start time is set for 3 PM.
