ITHACA, NY – The Skidmore College swimming and diving teams closed out day three at the 2025 Liberty League Championships with a stellar day of races that saw Four individual and four relay podium finishers, alongside four new program records being set on Friday.
The Thoroughbreds saw two records in the 200 fly and 800 free relay fall on the men's side, the latter of which came off the best relay podium finish in program history, while the women equally shined by breaking the 200-medley relay and 100 breast records.
Through three days of competition, the men's team remains in fourth place with 619 points, while the women are also in fourth place with 633 points.
MEN'S POINTS SCORERS
- In the 200-medley relay A-Final, the Thoroughbreds quartet of Ryan Delfico, Liam Keating, Brendan Lu and Nicolas Sodi nearly reset the record books with a fifth-place time of 1:34.52, just one-hundredths of a second from tying the previous record. The placement scored 50 points.
- Competing in an extremely fast 200 fly prelims, freshman Thomas Gaughan set a new record time of 1:56.74 to qualify for the B-Final, the swim shattered the previous best time of 1:59.47 set by fellow teammate Delfico in 2024. In the B-Finals, the freshman touched in sixth with a time of 1:57.82 to place 14th overall and scoring 13 points.
- In the 100 breast A-Final, Keating placed fifth overall with a time of 57.30 to score 25 points.
- The Skidmore relay team of Delfico, Jonah Vaynshtok, Gaughan and Sodi had a historic race in the 800 free relay finals, as the quartet set new program record time of 6:52.29 by shattering the previous time of 6:57.38 set in 2024. Finishing second overall, the placement marked the best relay finish in program history.
- Also scoring in the 200-medley relay C-Final, the Skidmore group of Keegan Scharoun, Owen Magoon, Allen Huseinovic and Gavin Schiavi placed 21st with a time of 1:37.99 and scoring eight points.
- Also scoring in the 200 fly B-Final, Huseinovic placed 15th overall with a time of 1:58.24 to score 12 points. In the C-Final, sophomore Henry Brien finished 18th overall with a time of 2:02.69 to score seven points.
- In the 100 back B-Final, senior Keegan Scharoun placed 11th overall with a time of 53.36 to score 16 points.
- Also scoring in the 100 breast B-Final, senior Will Quinn placed 10th overall with a time of 58.54 to score 17 points. Joining him in the B-Final, sophomore Owen Magoon finished in 14th after touching in 59.53 to score 13 points.
- In the 100 breast C-Final, sophomore Aidan Darling placed 20th with a time of 1:00.57 to score five points, while Schiavi was 22nd with a time of 1:01.03 to score three points. Rounding out the trio was fellow senior David Marcello, who finished 23rd with a time of 1:01.22 to score two points.
- In the 1-meter dive, sophomore Josh Amembal finished ninth after recording a score of 326.30 and tacking on 20 points.
- Also scoring in the 800 free relay, the team of Huseinovic, Marcello, Darling and Scharoun placed 21st with a time of 7:18.51 and scoring eight points.
WOMEN'S POINTS SCORERS
- In the 200-medley relay, the Skidmore quartet of Ginny Hunt, Faye Mooney, Gretchen Gwitt, Kelly Hsu put together a pair of stellar races. In the morning prelims, the relay team set a new program record time of 1:48.23, breaking the previous time of 1:48.42 set in 2024. During the evening A-Finals, the group placed fourth with a stellar time of 1:48.41 to score 52 points.
- Sophomore Sabrina Reed placed eighth in the 200 fly A-Final after clocking in at a time of 2:12.87 to score 22 points.
- In the 100 back A-Final, Gwitt rounded up in sixth place overall after touching in a stellar time of 59.10 to score 24 points.
- Breaking the program record in the 100 breast A-Final, Mooney clocked in at a stellar mark of 1:06.74 to snap the previous time of 1:06.95 set by Rachel Olson in 2020. The performance placed her fourth and scored 26 points.
- In the 800 free relay, the Thoroughbreds quartet of Reed, MK Booth, Mason and Chloe Kim placed sixth with a time of 8:03.11 and scoring 48 points.
- Also scoring in the 200-medley relay C-Final, the quartet of Jae Mason, Katherine Manaresi, Reed and Emily Booth placed 20th overall to score 10 points.
- Also scoring in the 100 back B-Final, Hunt was the best of the non-podium finishers after touching in a time of 59.58 to place ninth overall and scoring 20 points. The junior's time bested two A-Final competitors. Mason finished 11th overall while also competing in the B-Final after clocking in at 1:00.22 to score 16 points.
- In the 100 back C-Final, sophomore Sarah Miller placed 18th overall with a time of 1:03.37 to score seven points. Joining her in the C-Final, Kim rounded out in 21st with a time of 1:04.33 to score four points.
- Also scoring in the 100 breast B-Final, Manaresi placed 15th overall with a time of 1:09.76 and scoring 12 points. In the C-Final, freshman Mariama Dabo placed 21st overall with a time of 1:13.30 to score four points.
- Also scoring in the 800-free relay, the relay team of Julianna Kuznar, Emily Czelusniak, Hunt and Manaresi clocked in at 8:22.91 to score eight points.

The Thoroughbreds will wrap up competition at the 2025 Liberty League Championships tomorrow on Championship Saturday starting with prelims session at 10 AM, followed by the women's 3-meter dive event, and concluding with the finals session at 6 PM to wrap up the meet.
