ITHACA, NY – A repeat golden swim from senior
Ryan Delfico capped off a stellar day two from the Skidmore College swimming and diving teams at the 2025 Liberty League Championship meet on Thursday evening.
Making his title defense in the 400 IM A-Final in lane five, Delfico cruised through the first two strokes to stay in contention, before making his move in the breaststroke portion of the race to take the lead and hold on for a back-to-back conference championship victory with the fastest time of 4:03.19. The senior held off Ithaca's Janssen who made a late push from lane seven to force a competitive final turn.
The senior's victory highlighted yet another eventful finals session from the Thoroughbreds, who placed five individual podium finishers alongside two relay podium finishers, while also breaking program records in the men's 200 free, women's 400 IM, women's 100 fly and women's 200 free relay in the process.
Through two days of competition, the men's team sits at fourth with 364 points, while the women tallied 380 total points to also place fourth.
MEN'S POINTS SCORERS
- Senior Nicolas Sodi set a new program standard in the 200 free A-Finals by breaking the college record with his time of 1:40.88 to earn fourth place and scoring 26 points. The senior broke his own record time of 1:41.05 set last year.
- In the 200 free relay A-Final, the Thoroughbreds quartet of Gavin Schiavi, Liam Keating, Owen Magoon and Brendan Lu clocked a combined time of 1:26.95 to place fifth and scoring 50 points.
- Also scoring in the 400 IM C-Final, sophomore Aidan Darling placed 18th overall with his time of 4:26.01 after finishing second in his heat.
- In the 100 fly C-Finals, Lu touched in a time of 52.41 to finish third in the heat and 19th overall.
- Also scoring in the 200 free B-Final, sophomore Jonah Vaynshtok clocked a time of 1:43.70 to place 12th overall and finish fourth in the heat.
- A trio scored in the 200 free C-Final, with freshman Thomas Gaughan clocking in at 1:45.64 to finish second in heat and 18th overall. Behind him was senior Keegan Scharoun, who touched in 1:47.04 and finished fifth in heat. Rounding out the trio was senior David Marcello, who placed 24th overall after swimming a time of 1:51.69.
- Also scoring in the 200 free relay C-Final, the relay team of Vaynshtok, Gaughan, Scharoun and Marcello placed 20th overall with a time of 1:28.70 to score 10 points.
WOMEN'S POINTS SCORERS
- Junior Ginny Hunt had a standout swim in the 400 IM A-Final by setting a new program record time of 4:42.88 to sixth place and scoring 24 points. The junior snapped the previous record time of 4:42.95 set by Rachel Olson back in 2023 by a fingertip.
- In the 100 fly A-Final, junior Gretchen Gwitt also set a new program record time of her own after touching in at 57.24 to place fifth and scoring 25 points. The junior snapped her own previous record time of 57.56 set last year.
- Representing Skidmore in the 200 free A- Final, sophomore Kelly Hsu clocked in at a time of 1:54.24, ultimately placing third after out-touching fourth and fifth place both by less than two-tenths of a second.
- The 200 free relay A-Final saw the Skidmore quartet of Faye Mooney, Gwitt, Emily Booth, and Hsu reset the program record with a new fastest time of 1:38.10 to place fifth and scoring 50 points. The previous record time of 1:38.90 was set earlier this season.
- Also scoring in the 400 IM B-Final, sophomore Katherine Manaresi clocked in at 4:58.91 to place 14th overall and scoring 13 points. Competing in the C-Final, junior Catherine Shen placed 20th overall after clocking in at 5:26.03 to score five points.
- Also scoring in the 100 fly B-Final, E. Booth placed 16th overall with her time of 1:01.70 and scoring 11 points.
- Also scoring in the 200 free C-Final, sophomore MK Booth swam a time of 2:01.89 to place 23rd overall and scoring two points.
- Competing on the boards in the 1-meter dive, the Skidmore duo of Sophia May and Lila Tulimieri each scored for the Thoroughbreds. May placed 11th in the prelims with a score of 366.15 to add on 16 points, while Tulimieri finished 17th with a score of 274.60 and scoring nine points.
- Also scoring in the 200 free relay C-Final, the quartet of MK Booth, Sarah Miller, Julianna Kuznar and Chloe Kim finished 20th overall with a combined time of 1:43.45 to score 10 points.

Skidmore is back in action tomorrow at 10 AM for the day three prelims session at the Liberty League Championships. The session will be followed by the men's 1-meter dive event, before things wrap up at 6 PM with the finals session.
