Three Thoroughbreds earn conference weekly awards; two on Honor Roll

TROY, N.Y./SYRACUYSE, N.Y. – Three Skidmore College student-athletes have picked up weekly conference awards for the week ending Dec. 7. Joshua Seeley was selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Goaltender of the Week, while Jacob Gooden (men's basketball) and Emelia Lan (women's swimming & diving) were both tabbed Liberty League Rookie of the Week. Additionally, men's basketball's Charlie Fantom and women's swimming & diving's Kelly Hsu were picked on the Honor Roll.
 
Joshua Seeley (#30, Sr., G, Detroit, Michigan) – SUNYAC Men's Hockey Goaltender of the Week
Seeley stopped 29 out of the 30 shots he saw on Saturday to lead the Thoroughbreds to a 4-1 road win at Fredonia on Saturday. Four of his saves came on Blue Devil power plays to keep the hosts scoreless with the man advantage and earn his third victory of the season.
 
Jacob Gooden (#15, Fr., G, Edmond, Oklahoma) – Liberty League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Gooden averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals last week in a 2-1 week for the Thoroughbreds. He started the week with 22 points, four steals, six rebounds, and a pair of blocks against Norwich before scoring 20 with four assists in Friday's win over RIT. The first-year wrapped the week with 18 points on Saturday against Ithaca. Gooden shot 48.9 percent overall from the field with at least seven field goals made in each of the three games, and 16 total points from the free-throw line.
 
Emelia Lan (Fr., Tenafly, New Jersey) - Liberty League Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week
Lan had three wins, two second-place finishes, and was in the top five in all seven of her events to help lead the Thoroughbreds to their first-ever team victory at the Don Richards Invitational. She was part of program record-breaking relays with wins in the 400 free relay (3:36.74) and the 200-free relay (1.37.24). She also claimed a solo win in the 200 free (1:57.53) with seconds in the 200 breast (2:33.40) and 400 medley relay (3:58.20). Lan was third in the 100 free (53.72) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:16.25), wrapping the meet helping contribute 178 points.
 
Charlie Fantom (#5, Sr., G, Norwell, Massachusetts) – Liberty League Men's Basketball Honor Roll
Fantom averaged 12.3 points and 4.3 rebounds over in a 2-1 week for the Thoroughbreds with five assists and five steals. The junior shot 9-of-15 (.600) from beyond the 3-point line and 56.5 percent (13-of-23) overall from the field. He started the week with 15 points with seven rebounds and three steals in Monday's road win at Norwich. Then, in Friday's conference-opening win over RIT, Fantom scored 14 points fueled by four made 3-pointers and six rebounds across 32 minutes, and added eight points Saturday against Ithaca.
 
Kelly Hsu (Jr., New York, New York) – Liberty League Women's Swimming & Diving Honor Roll
Hsu was a member of all three program record setting relays for Skidmore over the weekend as the Thoroughbred women won the Don Richards Invitational for the first time. She had wins in the 200-free relay (1:37.24), 200-medley relay (1:47.65), the 400-free relay (3:36.74), and the 200 IM (2:09.71) with second-place finishes in the 100 fly (58.48) and 100 free (53.37). In total, Hsu helped contribute 171 points to Skidmore's team total.
