PREVIEW: Skidmore Women’s Basketball

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's basketball team is set to begin its season on Friday on the road at Williams College. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
THE SCHEDULE AHEAD
Skidmore has one of the toughest out of conference schedules in the nation. After Williams, the Thoroughbreds will travel to No. 25 Trinity on Nov. 19 before hosting preseason third-ranked Bowdoin for the home opener on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
 
Skidmore opens Liberty League play Dec. 5-6 at home against RIT and Ithaca. The Thoroughbreds continue non-league play against NESCAC foes Wesleyan (Dec. 11) and Tufts (Jan. 3) before going to two-time defending national champion NYU on Monday, Jan. 5.
 
Dipping back into Liberty League play for the spring semester, Skidmore will host games against Vassar (Jan. 20), Bard (Jan. 23), Union (Jan. 27), Rensselaer (Jan. 30), William Smith (Jan. 31), Clarkson (Feb. 13), and St. Lawrence (Feb. 14). The home finale against St. Lawrence is slated for the Big Green Scream.
 
LIBERTY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
The 2026 conference playoff is scheduled to begin with the first-round matches on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Subsequent semifinals will be played on Friday, Feb. 27 before the championship game tips off on Sunday, March 1.
 
STAR RETURNERS
There are nine returning players to the roster for Skidmore this year, including Claudia Schneider (8.6) and Madison Meyer (7.5) – the two leading returning scorers from last year. Schneider led the team as a sophomore last season with 28.1 minutes per game.
 
INCOMING
The Thoroughbreds welcome four new names to the roster for 2025-26, comprised of three first-years and a junior.
