SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off the 2025-26 season with a dominant outing in the pool to secure a pair of dual meet victories against St. Lawrence at the Williamson Sports Center Pool on Friday afternoon.
The women's team cruised to a lopsided final score of 190-41 after winning all 13 events, while the men came out on top in all but one event competed in en route to a 143-46 victory.
MEN'S EVENT WINNERS
- In the 200-medley relay, the Skidmore quartet of Jonah Vaynshtok, Jaz Liotta, Brendan Lu and Allen Huseinovic finished first with a time of 1:43.46.
- In the 1000 free, junior Jonah Vaynshtok touched in first with a time of 10:47.98, nearly ten seconds faster than the runner up.
- Sophomore Allen Huseinovic won the 200 free with a top time of 1:52.89. The sophomore followed up with a top-place swim of 57.75 in the 100 back.
- The 50 free saw junior Owen Magoon outpace the field with the winning time of 22.42. The junior also won the 100 breast with a top time of 1:03.79.
- In the 200 IM, senior Brendan Lu clocked in first with a time of 2:05.79 for the event win.
- In the 100 fly, sophomore Thomas Gaughan won the event with the top time of 54.97.
- In the 500 free, sophomore Lachlan Hartshorn bested the field with his top time of 5:11.52.
- In the 200 free relay, Skidmore's group of Lu, Gaughan, Liotta and Henry Brien touched in first with the top time of 1:30.85.
WOMEN'S EVENT WINNERS
- In the 200-medley relay, the Thoroughbreds quartet of Jae Mason, Faye Mooney, Gretchen Gwitt and Kelly Hsu touched in first with a combined time of 1:53.28.
- Junior Sabrina Reed cruised to first place in the 1000 free with a top time of 11:07.09, which clocked in at 33 seconds faster than second place.
- In the 200 free, junior Kelly Hsu came out on top with a time of 2:00.16. The junior followed up with a first-place swim in the 100 fly at a time of 1:01.57.
- In the 50 free, junior Faye Mooney sprinted to the top time of 25.58 to secure the event win.
- Senior Gretchen Gwitt won the 200 IM after touching in first at a time of 2:18.77.
- Competing on the board, sophomore Lila Tulimieri took the win with a top score of 167.48 in the 1-meter dive.
- In the 100 free, freshman Emelia Lan outpaced the field with her top time of 56.00. The freshman followed up with another event win in the 100 breast after clocking in at 1:11.34.
- In the 100 back, senior Ginny Hunt took the win after clocking in first at 1:01.93.
- Freshman Ari Matthews won the 500 free with a top time of 5:31.30.
- In the 3-meter dive, freshman Abby Gorzynski took the win with her top score of 185.03.
- In the 200 free relay, the Skidmore relay team of Mason, Emily Booth, Hunt and Gwitt placed first with a combined time of 1:43.64.
