Thoroughbreds tied for fourth, McLaughlin one off the lead, after two rounds of home tournament

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College golf team holds a tie for fourth at the end of one day of the Skidmore Fall Invitational at the Saratoga Spa State Park. Following two rounds of play, the Thoroughbreds (296-292—588) are tied with league rival NYU. Sophomore Patrick McLaughlin shot rounds of 70 and 71 to trail Williams' Nick Smith by one stroke.
  • At 3-under, McLaughlin is one of eight players to sit under par at the two-thirds point of the tournament. He finished round one in a flurry, playing holes 8-15 at 6-under par. His 1-under round two featured three birdies and 13 pars.
  • Jaden Cheng used a 1-under 71 in the second round to move into 13th place.
  • Derek Thomas birdied back-to-back holes (12-13) in the second round on the way to a 74 and tie for 49th.
  • Rudraksha Banerjee fired matching 76s to sit in a tie for 41st. Campbell Jenkins, playing as an individual, did the same on day one.
  • Eric Carter finished his second-round 75 with consecutive birdies on his final two holes (11-12). Thanks to another 75 on the first loop, Carter (an individual) is in 33rd.
  • Johnn Hwang (76-77) is tied for 49th.
UP NEXT
The tournament concludes with the third and final round on Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
