TROY, NY – The Skidmore College swimming and diving teams resumed action in the pool with an all-around solid day of performances at the RPI Kumpf Invitational on Saturday. The Thoroughbreds finished with both teams placing fourth out of five competing teams, with the men tallying 321 points while the women finished with 318 points on the day.
NOTABLE MEN'S FINISHERS
- In the 200 free, senior Nicolas Sodi won his heat to place fifth overall with his time of 1:48.89. Freshman Thomas Gaughan also placed seventh after clocking in at 1:51.83.
- The 50 free saw senior Gavin Schiavi sprint to a seventh-place finish after touching in 22.92. Right behind him was sophomore Owen Magoon who clocked the eighth-best time of 23.12.
- Senior Ryan Delfico finished third in the 100 IM with a swim of 55.05.
- In the 200 fly, freshman Allen Huseinovic won his heat and placed sixth overall with his swim of 2:03.62.
- Sodi placed fourth in the 200 back after finishing in a time of 2:00.76, while fellow senior Keegan Scharoun won his heat to finish fifth-fastest at 2:04.34.
- In the 500 free, Delfico won his heat and placed seventh overall with his time of 5:04.91.
- Senior Liam Keating took third place in the 200 breast with his time of 2:13.61, while sophomore Aidan Darling touched in eighth at a time of 2:20.11.
- In the 3-meter dive, sophomore Josh Amembal placed fourth with his score of 194.60. The sophomore also finished fifth in the 1-meter event after achieving a score of 184.35.
NOTABLE WOMEN'S FINISHERS
- In the 1000 free, sophomore MK Booth placed sixth with her time of 11:32.25.
- Sophomore Kelly Hsu took second place in the 200 free with her time of 2:00.52. Hsu also placed fourth overall in the 200 Fly after clocking in at 2:19.30.
- Sophomore Faye Mooney sprinted to a sixth-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.15. Fellow sophomore Emily Booth touched right after her with the seventh-fastest time of 26.18.
- Junior Gretchen Gwitt finished in the top-five for the 100 IM after touching in fifth with time of 1:04.06. Fellow junior Ginny Hunt also finished sixth overall after winning her heat at a time of 1:05.27.
- In the 100 free, Gwitt won her heat to place third overall with a time of 56.29, while E. Booth placed seventh overall after touching in at 57.82.
- The 200 back saw a fifth-place finish from Hunt, who touched in a time of 2:18.41. Senior Chloe Kim also won her heat to place eighth at a time of 2:21.75.
- In the 500 free, sophomore Sabrina Reed touched in sixth after posting a time of 5:34.31, while fellow sophomore Jae Mason won their heat to finish eighth at 5:37.36.
- The 200 breast saw Mooney finish sixth with a time of 2:37.55.
- Competing on the board, senior Sophia May finished sixth in the 1-meter dive after recording a score of 192.50.
MIXED RELAYS
- In the mixed 200 medley relay, the Skidmore A-Relay team of Delfico, Keating, Gwitt and Hsu placed fourth with a combined time of 1:44.18.
- In the mixed 200 free relay, the Skidmore A-Relay team of Sodi, E. Booth, Mooney and Magoon placed sixth at a time of 1:37.95.
